Out of the Blue Aviation was started at Arlington Airport in 2006 by Cathy Mighell. Cathy has been a business owner since 1994 and a pilot since 2005. She saw the need for a professionally run FBO, with highly qualified instructors, to serve the student and renter needs of the aviation community. Our goal is to provide highest quality instruction in a friendly and comfortable environment. We have a pilots lounge and espresso/snack bar where one can sit and watch the airplanes land and a patio to enjoy the gorgeous sunsets. Our Pilot Shop has all of the supplies you need for training and flying, including one of the largest selections of charts in the area. When you are ready for your FAA written exam we have the facilities right here in our LaserGrade Testing Center. We currently have six aircraft: two Cessna 172’s with GPS, one Piper Saratoga, an Aeronca Champ, a Tecnam Bravo, and a Remos GX. All of our aircraft are maintained to the highest standards by our certified A&P/IA mechanic. In 2007 Out of the Blue was awarded the status of a Cessna Pilot Center. This means that you can learn with the latest technology in our Cessna-designed online training programs. In 2008, we were granted Air-Taxi status by the FAA, allowing us to offer chartered flights to our customers In 2009, we earned the coveted status of a Part 141, or FAA Approved flight school. This means our facilities, instructors, and aircraft have been inspected by the FAA and found to meet their high standards, proving that Out of the Blue can offer you the very best in flight training.
