Years Flying:  50+

Favorite airplane you’ve ever flown:

The Wolf Pitts; one of the best Pitts Specials in existence and so much fun that someone will probably try to ban it

Aviation Background:

25 years of aerobatic competition, Glider Instructing, and a variety of interesting (and mostly impractical), airplanes; currently an Aviat Husky.

Aviation Philosophy:

You are never finished.  There are always things to learn and improvements to make.

Why do you instruct?

Flying is a very special thing.  I love to share it.

What made you want to learn to fly?

I don't remember a time when I didn’t want to fly.  Maybe those old-time flying movies did it.

Best Aviation Related Experience / Memory:

There are many, but two stand out.

One was a round trip from Seattle to Oshkosh in an open cockpit biplane with 200 mile legs.  The sights from 1,500 feet at 100mph and the people you meet at those fuel stops are unforgettable.

The other was a west-bound flight from Eastern Washington on a perfect summer evening.  From Snoqualmie Pass at 4,500ft, the sky and the water, (lake Sammamish, Washington, and the Sound), were brilliant gold and the Seattle skyline and the Olympic Mountains were clearly outlined against the gold.  The kind of beauty you never forget and the kind you see only from the sky.
